I am using the BMU series and the message "AL30" is displayed on the front panel of the driver. What does AL30 mean?

Resolving Alarm 30 on BMU

"AL30" is an alarm indicating an overload condition. The possible causes are as follows:

  • A load exceeding the continuous operation range was applied to the motor for a period of time equal to or longer than the time set in the "Overload alarm detection time excluding shaft restraint" parameter, or the output shaft was restrained.
  • The motor started up when its temperature was low.

Check the operating conditions such as load status and acceleration/deceleration time.

Alarm
Code
Alarm Name cause treatment ALARM-

input *1
AL20
(AL20)
overcurrent An excessive current flowed through the driver due to a ground fault or other reason. Check the driver and motor wiring for damage. invalid
AL21
(AL21)
Main circuit overheating The internal temperature of the driver exceeds the alarm detection temperature.
  • Check the ambient temperature.
  • Review the ventilation conditions inside the enclosure.
valid
AL22
(AL22)
Overvoltage
  • The power supply voltage exceeded approximately 120% of the rated voltage.
  • Lowering load operation was performed, or a load exceeding the allowable load inertia was driven.
  • Check the power supply voltage.
  • If this occurs during operation, reduce the load or increase the acceleration/deceleration time.
AL25
(AL25)
Undervoltage The power supply voltage has fallen below approximately 60% of the rated voltage.
  • Check the power supply voltage.
  • Check the wiring of the power cable.
AL28
(AL28)
Sensor abnormality The sensor signal line of the connection cable was broken during operation, or the sensor connector of the connection cable was disconnected. Check the connection between the driver and the motor.

(AL30)
overload
  • A load exceeding the continuous operation range was applied to the motor for a period of time equal to or longer than the time set in the "Overload alarm detection time excluding shaft restraint" parameter, or the output shaft was restrained. *2
  • The motor started up when its temperature was low.
  • Please reduce the load.
  • Please review the operating conditions such as acceleration and deceleration times.
AL31
(AL31)
overspeed The rotation speed of the motor output shaft exceeded approximately 4800 r/min.
AL41
(AL41)
EEPROM error
  • The saved data has been corrupted.
  • Data cannot be written or read.
Please initialize the parameters. invalid

Initial
sensor abnormality
Before turning on the power, the sensor signal line of the connection cable was broken or the sensor connector of the connection cable was disconnected. Check the connection between the driver and the motor. valid

Initial
operation prohibited *3
If the "External operation signal input" parameter is "OFF," the power was turned on again while the operation switch was on the RUN side. Move the operation switch from the RUN side to the STAND-BY side.
If the "External operation signal input" parameter is "ON", the power was turned on again while the FWD input or REV input was ON and the operation switch was on the RUN side.
  • Move the operation switch from the RUN side to the STANDBY side.
  • Turn the FWD input or REV input from ON to OFF.
If the "External operation signal input" parameter is "RE", the power was turned on again while the FWD input or REV input was ON. Turn the FWD input or REV input from ON to OFF.

External stop *4 The EXT-ERROR input has turned OFF. Check your EXT-ERROR input.

*1:How to cancel the alarm:

valid:

  • Turn ON the ALARM-RESET input
  • Executes alarm reset in monitor mode
  • Power cycle

invalid: Power cycle

*2: When operating with a load that exceeds the short-time duty range or when the output shaft is locked, an alarm will occur in a maximum of 5 seconds. However, if the "Overload alarm detection time excluding when shaft is locked" parameter is set to 5 seconds or less, an overload alarm will occur within that set time.

*3: This occurs when the "Initial operation prohibition alarm" parameter is enabled.

*4: This occurs only when EXT-ERROR is assigned to an input terminal.
