# What is the difference between "velocity fluctuation rate" and "flutter characteristics"?

Both "speed fluctuation rate" and "flutter characteristics" describe changes in the rotational speed of a motor, but they have the following differences.

**Speed ​​fluctuation rate**  
(1) What is the speed fluctuation rate?

This specification represents the change in motor speed when external conditions change.  
It expresses the range of motor speed change in "%" when "load," "voltage," or "temperature" changes.

(2) Examples of applications affected by speed fluctuations

- Conveyor for transporting goods ⇒ Speed ​​changes depending on the size and mass of the workpiece.
- Equipment in a facility with large temperature fluctuations between early morning and daytime ⇒ Speed ​​changes depending on room temperature

(3) How to check the value

The speed fluctuation rates for brushless motors and servo motors are specified in the specifications.

**Flutter Characteristics**  
(1) What are flutter characteristics?

This characteristic represents the "rotational unevenness" of the motor.  
It expresses the range of speed variation during measurement relative to the motor's set speed as a percentage.

(2) Examples of applications affected by flutter characteristics

- Image processing unit ⇒ Affects the degree of screen shake
- Painting equipment ⇒ Affects unevenness of the painted surface

(3) How to check the value

Flutter characteristics vary from unit to unit and fluctuate depending on driving conditions, so there are no specified values.
